I didn’t grow up celebrating Christmas but I’ve always enjoyed seeing the beautiful Christmas lights and displays around the city. This year I decided to go checkout Magic Winter Lights in La Marque and was not disappointed. They have a lot of really great displays (including a Chinese Acrobatic performance), rides, and carnival type food as well so I’d definitely recommend this event if you have the time to visit!
Here are some of the photos I was able to take, and I hope you enjoy them, but I wanted to take a moment to talk about the beautiful little girl in the featured image. As I wandered around the park, taking pictures as I went along, I noticed that most people went out of their way to avoid being in the general vicinity of my lens. I had to laugh, as I understand why since I used to avoid being in pictures too, but this little girl was anything but shy.
As I was setting up to photograph a display, while waiting on her mom to take her own photo in front of the display, I saw this little girl watching me out of the corner of my eye. Her dad laughed at her watching me so intently and, with her parent’s permission, I snapped that photo. It was really awesome to see her and other little children enjoying the evening and gave me a little glimpse of the joy that I missed as a kid. BUT, with that said, it’s never too late to live with childlike joy and amazement so here’s to making up for lost time.
